In this assignment, we were given a text about the Big Bang Theory from Wikipedia to typeset within a context that we were to establish ourselves (approach, audience, medium). I chose to gear the text towards an audience with a slight appreciation, but not a whole understanding of the topic, and borrowed cues from the classic typographic staple of using only 3 colours (red, black and white) for a simple aesthetic to add a sense of polish and weight to the text. The imagery had also been re-illustrated to suit a more subtle context, in contrast to others that may be more complex in nature. At the same time, attention is given to the form of the project, where each chapter of the article folds out and expands into five vertical accordion books to touch on the idea behind the “expansion of the universe.”
